If your car is suffering from rough idle on start up, check your air intake pipe

Not sure if this has been posted before, however wanted to share my experience.

Bought the car and for a while was running well, would idle constantly on start up and no error code. However after a while I noticed the idle going up and down and started to get error codes that cylinders were misfiring. I knew the air intake pipe section needed replaced as a previous owner had bodged a repair, so approx £29, said item was bought from my local BMW dealer and I fitted it yesterday.

What a difference it has made, rough idle gone, error codes cleared and no EML on. It is dead easy to do, although a bit fiddly to get the clams off, (especially in this heat :P )

consistently a failure point for most cars of this age now-

but look at the state of that!!!

Good job!

I know, it is a shocker! Think I am now going to go through it and check for ther perishable items that need attention. :)

I just ordered one as I have the classic annoying whistle and it is looking a little tired. Will update when I fit it.

For anyone without a sound generator, I have a perfect condition example of the simpler version of this hose. Removed when I fitted the sound generator on our 2.5i.
If anyway needs one, it's available for the postage cost.
