If you had the balls - the most BONKERS swap for the Z4 for 1 year only

Hypothetically speaking, looking through Pistonheads and thinking- what is the most bonkers PX possible for the 35is?

Criteria:-

- MPG not really an issue
- Practicality not really an issue
- Max 10 years old
- Keep for 1 year, hopefully nothing more than an oil change
- Should keep its value and be drivable up to 6-7k miles in that year (one service)
- Can add max 7-8k toward the part-ex (assuming car worth 23k now, 30k top end for the new car)

I guess this is a bit like looking at the model in the bar and thinking- is there fun to be had without being potentially ruinous ?

I present my 3 "models in the bar"

The BENTLEY CONTINENTAL GT MULLINER - yours for 30k, 2005 edition

The JAGUAR XK (X150) XKR 2009 - 30k, 2009 model. An absolute beauty

The Maserati Gransport V8 (2007)

One year, max 7k miles

How bad could it be?????

What would be your dream px, if you could forget being sensible, for just a year?

None of the above.I'd have an F type V6S but they are still 45k plus

Not sure how long I would have to wait for them to drop to 30k...

Here's a different choice for you - a Land Rover Defender (you did say bonkers) might even make money as they stop producing them.

Ariel Nomad - won't find one second-hand yet but they're from £30k new

All-terrain but road-legal
235bhp
670 kg
0-60 in 3.4s (or 4.5s if you take a passenger) :D

Blimey guys... you missed the point of the thread somewhat

You've all picked the ugly one in the corner... !

Cayenne! :| :fuelfire:

XFR is a good shout though, but you need to be willing to swap for a year

PerryGunn, that looks like a cross between an Atom and a Hummer! Quite scary - but no doubt great fun. Er.. not sure I could drive to work in it though or take friends out ! Would make for an interesting client visit

And it is reasonably practical, it's got a windscreen and optional bolt-on side panels

To be fair, it's better than a BONKERS Cayenne, E46 or Land Rover ...

:tumbleweed:

To give you an example, a chap on Pistonheads bought a Ferrari 348 and serviced and maintained it all himself. Finding parts which were shared with other cars and even taking the engine out himself. It made for a fascinating read - showing you the sort of car you can own on a budget. If I were to ever indulge I would be looking for something to keep 6-12 months and move on again - I would love to own an M6 at some point just to experience that V10 ...

Would happily swap my 118d for it. Not sure I could handle the fuel bill though

Yep, but not sure it could be worse than that Bentley

I did read about a lot of issues with them too - would be quite risky on the potential bork factor even for 6 months!
