Been a Z4 Coupe owner for 3 weeks now, and was mystified how BMW boffins could design a tailgate that you could only open from inside the car. When I have just wanted to access the boot, I have been opening the drivers door to press the release button. Finally today after flipping through the owners manual I discovered the BMW badge tilts and opens the catch...

Another little secret if you press and hold the opening button on the remote it opens the windows. I find this useful at times to avoid stabbing myself on the corner of the window when getting into the car in tight places. Holding the locking buttons closes the windows as well.

u coupe owners dont know anything! U'll be looking for the button to open your roof soon!

That function only comes with the Premier version of the Z

Ha - I remember doing the same when i picked mine up in June. I used the inside button and keyfob to open the boot all the time, then in July whilst cleaning it i realised the BMW badge flipped to open the boot....

My recent mistake was thinking hmm i will check the oil. After searching for the dipstick in the dark i read the manual to find out that its electronic!!
