Idling like a bag of spanners after long rest

That does not look right. That light should not come on after a bit. Almost sounds like the water pump is doing something not right.

mmm, actually, just checked and it is a little low... will top it up tomorrow.... anyway, not likely to be related to the other issue is it? Less worried about the coolant issue as the temperatures have been fine, even with this happening, and last time it did this it was ok again after I had coolant replaced.

I think it sounds coil pack related, but, check out your DISA before buying any new bits maybe give the ICV a clean.

and finally it could be a vaccum leak in the CCV lines, I havent checked this before so i cant offer any advice.

Slightly off (the original) topic, but after opening the water thingy last night to check the level, this morning (first time in weeks) the light didn't come on... Could it have been some air bubble problem (every-so-techy, I am) :)

Thanks for that, I may have a look over the weekend, or I may book it in... always worried with these things that if I take something apart I wont be able to get it back together.... took the dash of the wife's car the other week to fit an iPhone kit and ended up losing 2 screws along the way LOL!
