Identify this part for me please!

Hi, So I bought this 2005 Z4 last fall. This part was sitting on top of the battery. I dont think it goes there, but I have no clue where it goes, do you? Thanks in advance!

Its the Battery cover. It is meant to cover the battery well so you have a flat boot.

To me that looks more like the divider that goes behind the battery. Slides into the grooves between the entrance to the boot and the battery. Makes two compartments in the battery well.

I’ll have a look tomorrow, as I’m not definite.
