Ideas for our first road trip

Which roads do members think would be best for a mini road trip over the half term week? We are between heading up to Aviemore for a few days or down to Cornwall (we are near Southampton) Hubby thinks we will have a better run up north but I fancy the cornish lanes with the roof down (although very doubtful I would drive) Or can anyone suggest somewhere else?

Cornish lanes with a big nosed convertible - I think I'd rather head for the wide open spaces of the North :).

Check the long range weather forecast though - would be a big part of my decision making process :)

Brittany? Take the ferry to St Malo and go southwest from there, head for Quimper or Brest...

And make sure you take the old military road from Braemar towards Aviemore - for goodness' sake do not waste prime driving time on the feckin' A9...

Head for Snowdonia roads are fantastic and as previous comments lanes not and as narrow as Cornwall :driving:

Trust me, you don't.

How about a 'Lap of the South West' instead! :D
I just chucked this together quickly, stick to the A roads and B roads much else down west gets very agricultural very quickly, would probably be rather good fun with a bit of fine tuning!
Full Details here, hope this works :P http://goo.gl/maps/Tnzqy

So we have got an apartment on Widemouth Bay in Cornwall for a few days, now to decide if to take the zed, depends if I can find some soft bags rather than cases and if hubby can slim down his camera kit!!
