Ideal tyre pressure?

Hello everyone,

I have a 2.0i 2008 facelift m sport, and I changed my tyres a couple days ago to the Falken Azenis FK250, 225/40 front and 255/35 rear.

The tyre place told me that the pressure should be 2.5 in the front's and 2.3 in the rears.

Inside the drivers door it states that the fronts should be 2.0 and 2.2 in the rears.

Not sure which to follow, can anyone help please?

Thanks

Hello. I do mine in psi. 32 front 34 rear. Can’t believe the tyre place said higher on the front. Do they think it’s FWD??

I'd always be more inclined to follow BMWs advice than the tyre place. Especially if they suggest higher front than rear!

If it helps 2.2 Bar is 32psi.

Go by what is says in the door. Tyre fitters do dozens of tyres a day, very doubtful they have an encyclopaedic knowledge of what tyre pressures should be.

Personally I ran 33f 36r.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Pretty clear the rears should be higher pressure, ill try 32-33 for the fronts and 34-35 for the rears and see how it feels on the road.

Tyre pressures on the door are for the originally fitted run flat tyres. If you are fitting something different then you may need different pressures.

I run 28F and 30R. Don't mind sacrificing some fuel efficiency for a more comfortable ride and more grip. I think it's very subjective. Play around with it and see what you like

I replaced all of my (there when I bought the car) Chinese ditchfinders with Eagle F1s just after Christmas.

It felt a bit jittery on the ride home, and I found that the tyre place had set the pressures to 2.7 bar all round - over 39psi!

Trust the door info, not the tyre place.

I've just switched to 18" from my factory 17" wheels on my E86 and got rid of the runflats - what are folks running on their 18" tyres?
