Idea on price?

Hi guys,

I'm reluctantly looking to sell my Z4, as I've been offered the option of a company car. I won't be looking to sell for about 4-6 weeks, but wanted to get an idea of the sort of price I should be looking for. I'm not desperate to sell, or in any sort of rush, but want to be realistic when I put it up for sale in around 1 month. Originally bought the car from BMW in Sept 2009 as an approved user car, so the car was and still is immaculate

Spec:

Z4 3.0 in Sterling Grey metallic (2003/03)
73000 miles
Full BMW service history
Heated Leather seats
18" Ellipsoid Alloy wheels
Xenon Headlights
10 speaker Carver Premium sound
Rear Parker Sensors
Auto Air Con
Aux in
and all the usual stuff!

Serviced at 71k at main dealer
Taxed until End of August
MOT until Sept

The pics are what I originally had from the dealer, as these are the only ones I have on this computer....

The car is in great condition and was last serviced 2000 miles ago (13000 miles till next service)

I welcome any ideas of how much I should put this up for! Thanks for your help in advance!

I paid £8150 for an 04 with exactly the same spec but Grey roof in August last year. I'd say about the same...maybe £8500 when the sun is out.

It's a lovely Zed. Good combo of colour, wheels and extras.

Same basic car and age as mine. Realistically I'd be expecting to market at £8,000 due to the mileage and expect £7,500 to £7,750, but as Daffy says on a sunny day it might make more.

What car valuation of a '53 on 73k is £7,480 so probably not far off

i'd say to get a sale anywhere between 7-8k for it to shift relatively quickly

Hi, I did a part exchange at BMW dealers this month, mine was a 3.0SE 04 plate stirling grey with 95,000 miles and full service history, heated sports seats and multi function steering wheel, 6 cd cassette and cruise control bought from an approved BMW dealer and had 6 weeks warranty remaining and was about 1000 miles from a no.1 service, it also had two new rear tyres, there were some small blemishes and a scratch on one sill.
I needed to do the deal fast as I will only be on leave for 3 months so a long drawn out sale was not on, I got 5000 for it off an 07 plate 3.0 SI with 24000 miles. OK I know I did it the most expensive way but as a check we buy any car offered 5240 before they saw it and I believe they reduce that offer for any marks they find. The main problem was the miles done although the car was running well and I would think the 3.0 straight 6 would be good for 250000 miles.
The dealer had a similar one for sale but with everything including satnav i think it had done 91000 and was on sale for 7000.
You need to find someone who wants what you have and you may get 7000 even 8000 on a good day.

Below average condition:  £4820

...but does not really account for specification. Based on that, selling privately I would suggest it's circa £7k, but its best to search Autotrader / Pistonheads for similar cars and combine that info with the price guides to come up with your value.

I'd be gutted to have to sell for a little over 7k if I had paid close to the £13495 BMW had wanted for it. Do you really have to sell. I'd do everything I could to hang onto it

I paid £12750 around the same sort of time for a 18month newer car with similar spec but with than 14k on the clock and thev amount I'd lose if I sold now makes my eyes water.

Depreciation is life

A one year old DBS can be had for £110k....£45k in 12 months.

No that's not correct. It's got 20,000 miles less than mine had. At the time mine would have been worth over £9k with 70k rather than 90k on it.
