ICE Upgrades

This has probably been asked a thousand times and is probably on this forum somewhere but I can't it.
I'm thinking of upgrading my 2004 Z4's cd player to an Alpine iDA X-305, and wondered if anyone knows how compatible it is, or can be with additional modules to the standard BMW CD Autochanger and Multi-Function Steering Wheel.

edit

I know about BMW to ISO connectors have done that in the past, do I need a seperate lead for the MFSW? another lead to connect the aerial? and that I'll need a facia plate, the only advice I've been given is that no OE autochanger can be used with an aftermarket head unit, unless anyone knows any different.

I fitted a Sony autochanger to my wife's Focus and with a box of tricks to the OE headunit and she can use the remote radio controls, just wondered if it was possible the other way round.

It can with the aid of cables and fascias - I'm sure someone who knows more will be along very shortly but you will definitely need an ISO cable and an adapter fascia as the headunit is smaller than the standard unit.

With regards to MFSW and CD changer, I'm pretty sure there are connectors available to see these work, 99% sure for MFSW and 60% sure for CD changer.

How's that for an informative but also highly uninformative answer?

You can get adapters for the steering wheel controls, i think there only availabe for sony and alpine headunits. Not sure about the cd changer though but then would you need it with an alpine headunit with aux/ipod and usb input. I have the alpine 9886 inmy mr2 and use my ipod all the time along with a 16gb usb card with all my music on it.

I was really tempted to put the 9886 in the Z4 along with a subwoofer in the boot, the 9886 would of been better as it has low level outputs and better control over sound but ive stuck with the stock headunit and am using a high to low level adapter and have a 12" subwoofer in the boot.

I had a aftermarket HU for about a week but got fed up with all the poor fitting adapters. I couldn't find one that fitted correctly!
