Saw one of these in black at my local dealer today - only the second one I have seen, the other was in silver somewhere in West London parked up. I much prefer the black, and close up its gorgeous. The little sculpted details, like round the rear lights, are beautifully realised. If this is the way Eco-friendly performance cars are going then I think BMW could have done a lot worse

But still, at the price bracket which is identical to my 911, I would not chose it ...

I'm sure it's a great car, just doesn't seem like a special car...I'm sure if you had £100K plus to spend, you'd be after something a little more 'special'

Not being derogatory to BMW, but I just don't think you'd still be buying BMW's if you had a lot of money to spend.....

That's true OG and I thiught that earlier, but I do think that Merc have had higher end sports cars than BMW and Audi, with the SLR and SLS.....

In addition I don't know why Audi didn't bring out the V10 Diesel in the R8

Just reading the fuel consumption in the real world and it's not better than 50 mpg.... Disappointing when they advertise 134 mpg, but you'd expect 80-90

Oh well, just reinforces the fact I don't like the car

Name me a car that does achieve its claimed MPG though Nick? It's a fault of the EU test. It was still doing 60-70mpg wasn't it and a lot more when the electric was doing most of the work. How many other cars capable of 0-100 in 10s can beat that?

Yeah I know OG, but my hatred of the car is tugging at whatever I can!! :D

I wouldn't think less than 50% in the real world was a good trait though

I like BMW is taking initiative in developing technology for the cars of the future. That said, I don't like the looks of the car... is like it came out of a Tron movie.

Anyway, for that money I'd go for the Mercedes GT. But that's just me.
