I would hate to be on this flight...

I saw that yesterday...

I saw that on the news and they said one of the wing tips actually touched the runway.
I was on a US Air fright many years ago landing into LVH (Lehigh Valley International in Allentown, PA) when the same thing happened except the wingtip missed the ground by just inches it was determined.... :o

155 mph winds appearantly. Enough to put you off flying forever I would say.

Whoa, if that's true that's a CAT 4 hurricane. :o Even at 155 Kph it's still a CAT 2 hurricane. :o Kudos to the crew.

It was the 25yr old First Officer making the approach. When she got into bother the Captain took the reins and got her airborne again (the plane, not the First Officer!).

The general feeling amongst the aviation community seems to be the Captain should've asked to approach on the other runway (less crosswind). Either way I'd call that a lucky escape and just glad nobody was hurt. Not a great advert for Lufthansa though... wonder if they have flights going cheap at the moment? ;)
