i wonder how many of you have notice this fantastic detail in your Z ..

2 little orange led projecting orange light to the gear shift area ..
just notice it 2day ..very exciting ..

My 2003 325Ci had it and was glad to see my Z4 had it as well. Took me forever to find out just where that neat orange light was coming from! :oops:
 
It's been a feature in Bimmers for years. The perfect colour to illuminate the control area of the cabin without interfering with night vision. When I first had it in 2001 I thought it was awesome, but my daughter has now 'upped' it as her mini has colour changeable mood lighting around the car.

Great discovery, sniry, I'll bet you are right that there are many BMW owners who have never notcied this feature :P
 
I had heard that also.

It has the ring of truth since Anders Warming was the real designer of the Z4 and not Chris Bangle.... at least that is what my BMW Z4 book says.....
 
In addition to those two orange lights I like this one too.
Door handle light.

My Z is my first bimmer and we've been together for a year now. I consider myself a newb and expect to be such for a long time. :) These forums work out well for all, the newbs collect information and provide entertainment for all those seasoned forumites. BTW, I had to go look at the lights, I was another one who didn't know they were there. :rofl:
 
I had this in my E46 and loved it, really classy. As ive not picked my Z4 up yet, i didnt know if id have them or not - but looks like i will which is nice.

I guess the Z4 should be much more advanced than the E46 as it was introduced in '99? Z4 in 2003.

had to run to the garage and check ..mine is there but not working in both of the door handle ..
any special fuse for that ?
 
sniry, I think it was an option on our cars. It doesn't come standard. I had to retrofit it. You will find a hole in you door handle but there is nothing inside. No wiring, no LED.
 
I knew about the lights on the mirror....thought it was awesome when I first saw em at night.

I will however have to double check if they are on/off corresponding to the light switch, I think i've seen them on at night when I have the lights off.....

These don't come standard on most Zs... In fact, I believe it had to be specially added to the factory order.

However, they can be easily retrofitted for about $30! A great mod for sure.
