I want an R8

HOW MUCH body roll on that 35is!!! ...and that's with the adaptive suspension too.... oh dear.

( oh and having driven them all... F Type for me thanks )
 
They are amazing cars but they are just so clinical and boring!!! Needs to be something with more soul.

At the end of the day it is a 'super car' and IMO it misses quite a few points of the super car criteria.

Well in Tom. Can't believe it's 3 pages before anyone has brought that up.

Clinical, soulless and just outright boring is how I would describe both the R8s I had a shot of (V10 and V8). I preferred the V8 over the V10. It made a better noise and things happened at a less ridiculous speed.

This was kind of my point above, it's a very "look at me car", as are all super cars, but it's not really a super car is it? I'd rather have a fast refined coupe or saloon car at that money, probably the F-Type Coupe, as it doesn't look like it's trying to be something it isn't, why bring lots of attention to itself then be a bit dull. If you want a super car then Ferrari, McLaren , Lamborghini all make better looking, better handling, faster and less boring super cars.

But those cars are twice the cost of a new R8 V10 and not as reliable plus it's cheaper to run :)

I'm with you on the old gits thing. Although it may be a bit pipe and slippers, I'm thinking a soft top XKR might be a good move.

They aren't twice the cost fair they are more but not out of the ball park but when the R8 is compared power to weight it look a bit well antiquated…

Not sure if you've optioned up a new car from the above list, you can spend £240k easily so near enough double, also the R8 is the run-out model so yes it won't look good as the rest on paper

Would be *slightly* interested to see comparisons on say one years ownership of each and 5k miles.

Test drove the R8, on the same day as the Gallardo, 430 and 997 TT........I picked the Porsche for a number of reason.......and the Audi would have been my last choice of those....

As for Astons - whilst the same cost and they look great and sound amazing, based on my own experience of ownership and a few people I know, they're rubbish imo - unreliable and of very poor quality....I'd never own another Aston in my lifetime which is a shame as it could/should have a very good car....
 
If it were a choice of Bond or Iron Man - I would go Iron Man - I think they are excellent looking cars in the right colour - when they first came out they had a light blue metallic in the showroom - yuk!

Needs to be a nice bright colour IMO - Yellow would be good Carol
 
I'd skip the drop top. Get one with a roof. I've decided I'll never have another convertible. Stiff solid chassis all the way in future. I can feel even the slightest scuttle shake in the e89 (and my old e85) and really don't like it at all. Lovely to have a drop top, but better still in a sports car to have a very solid chassis, which even though BMW try very hard, means no more convertibles.

I love the feel of the wind in my hair - correction - I love to imagine to feel the wind in my hair!
