i want an iphone from santa

iPhone all the way & I'd definitely say 5 is worth the extra... I pay £26pm with O2 with £300 upfront - tho this cost was covered selling my 4S...

Get an android. The LG P880 is ludicrously understated and cheap on ebay too at around £250.

Iphones are far too restrictive, buggy and sheep like for me.

PS I have the Note (or tablet as most people thought at the meet) and when I hold my work iphone in my hand it feels like a toy in comparison.

You want to know something ironic? I managed to find better ATV integration with my android than I could with my iPhone. My iPhone can't act as a proper remote for the ATV yet my android can. The ATV couldn't read half my media library through iTunes yet when I rooted it, it quite happily connected to my Windows share.

Android also has auto backup.

Honestly I've not found a single thing the iPhone can do that the android can't, yet the same can't be said the other way round.

The geek in me agrees, the businessman in me does not. It is a bit like that Golf advert, you can make the Android do things so that it is almost as good as the iPhone and geeks can really get on with that, but give either phone to a complete non technical person and they will run with an iPhone before they can walk with an Android.

Think of when you have an iPhone, you can plug it in the car with the iPhone / iPod connector and it works, even in our Z4s. Don't think there is an Android phone that can be integrated like that without some major kit.

I am not discussing here what is better, or better value for money - but simply, what phone is easier to use in every day life with your other products around you, including the fact that most app providers create the apps for the iPhone first, with a statement on their website that Android will follow "at some stage".
 
i do want something simple to use....
and iphone looks better

so assuming i go with an iphone, what tarriff would you all say is best??

pay mega up front for a lower thing per month??
 
I got my daughter the £250 up front, unlimited data, voice and text for £26 a month - but she is a heavy user though.

I bought the iPhone 5 outright and got a PAYG sim on T-Mobile (now EE). They have a topup of £20 to get 6 months data so I did that... I never really use it to make calls, mainly just receive, so I have yet to add anything to the £10 I started with in September.

I don't really mind either platform, but I have had 5 years of iPhones so I have purchased all the apps I need and use. For that reason I am going to stick with the platform. If I had the same story on Android I would likely stay Android.

... if I were to start from scratch I would go with the iPhone.

Not gonna post my CV explaining why you should listen to me though, that's just a bit....sad ;)
 
You can cut a normal sim to an i5 nano sim. Thats what giffgaff expect you to do.

I cut my full sized work sim to use in my i5.

If you are a geek a jailbroken iphone is the solution! I missed my untethered ios5

Trouble is JB invalidates the warranty and removes eligibility from the out of warranty replacement scheme

Thats apple scare talk!

The port went on my new 4s last year after 3 months (prob as i was using it on my clock radio without the dock adapter so was wobbling) Before the genius looked at it they restored it (which wipes the jailbreak) Then diagnosed it was the port, swapped the phone with one in store.

i had a 3g and 3gs now i have a Samsung S3 and it blows the iphone out of the water

i don't think there is anything on the iphone that is better the Samsung :thumbsup: im a convert

Ouch, have to say I don't see the appeal with the iPhone but then for me the main thing is a decent camera.

I currrently have an Xperia Arc, 8MP camera is great, and at £20 a month with no upfront fee pretty good value. Contract ends soon actually, may have a look at the 5, but I'm not a fan of having to pay money for the phone in addition to the contract.

An ipad on the other hand... yes please santa :thumbsup:

reception is a good as any other provider apart from tmobile which was pants anyway... Giffgaff is hosted on the O2 network
 
Ab7 but as I said, I've always traded in my old iPhone against a new one (or ebay'd) so didn't actually pay anything upfront (well I guess I did once upon a time lol)... Try selling Samsung / Nokia / htc etc after a year or so & they're worth next to not...

Look at it like buying a BMW rather than a Vauxhall...... :fuelfire: :fuelfire:
 
I was an Apple fan until they lost the youtube app and introduced a mapping system on which if you search for 'arse' it finds 'elbow'. Add to that the fact that they sytematically bricked my iphone 3gs well before I was ready to upgrade by releasing software updates that crippled it, and in doing so made it virtually impossible to go back to the old version of ios. And add to that the fact that the iphone 5 is basically an iphone 4gs with a sort of longer but still thin screen while it's contenders have glorious 'big enough to see and use' screens.

So after long deliberation I ditched Apple and got a Galaxy S3. Absolutely no looking back for me. I got it about a month ago now and it still has loads of new phone novelty for me. I could list the benfits over Apples offering but haven't got half an hour spare.
