I want a Z4 :-)

Hi,

I have had a motorbike for almost a couple of years and am now going to be switching back to a car.
Rather than getting a run-around which makes me feel :-| or :( everytime I go up to drive it....I want a car which makes me feel :D and want to find any excuse to have to :driving: ....so I want a Z4!!!

Budget-wise, I will be looking up to an 05 plate roadster i think.
The engine has to be the 3.0
The minimum spec I would like to have is Xenons, electric memory heated seats, wind deflector (I've never had a convertible before, but assume the wind deflector is a must-have?).
Optional extras I would like are cruise control, built-in sat nav, parking sensors, parrot kit, premium 10 speaker set, multi-function steering wheel...(I'm not asking for much am I 8) )

I have read you can install cruise control yourself. Will it show up on the computer display or not?
What exactly is the purpose of the intravee? Is it to allow you to connect your iphone/ipod via a wire or bluetooth? Is to allow you to programme electronic codes so you can get your car to do things such as fold wing mirrors in on locking the car?
Do you have problems with keeping the hood clean? If it gets dirty, is it difficult to clean?
Is the ride really bad if you have Run-Flats?

Any advice much appreciated...thanks

Hi and welcome to the Forum:

1. Cruise control - an easy install, does not show on the display.
2. Intavee - do a search on here, loads of stuff
3. Auto folding wing mirrors not possible on the model you are considering
4. Hood Clean - no problem if you keep on top of it (not the roof the cleaning......)
5. Ride is OK with RFTs but massively improved with good quality Non RFTs

Pre purchase checklist link in my signature which may help when looking at a Zed.

Good luck

Thanks guys.

I found a Z4 I arranged to view on Saturday and would most likely have bought it.
Unfortunately, I got a text from the seller last night to say he had sold it :(
So, the search goes on.......

Welcome.

There seem to be a fair few good ones available at the moment, so don't be too disheartened about the one you were hoping to view on Saturday.

I know it's difficult being patient when it comes to these things, but you'll find the one for you in the end. :driving:

Hope you find one soon fella. :)

Welcome to the forum! As for your wish list: I'd say, make sure you fine a decent 3.0 because I'm not sure whether there are loads of them around? You can retrofit a lot of stuff afterwards, such as the cruise control, multifunctional steering wheel, wheels ans tyres etc... That's what I did (but I didn't source a 3.0)

You'll notice that a lot of members on here have changed a number of things on their cars :D

Today is the 1 week anniversary of my Z4 :D :driving: :D :driving: :D :driving:
I am absolutely loving it!!!

Why aren't all cars convertibles??
Everytime I walk to my car, I have a big smile on my face
The sound of that engine - WOW

Yes another member of the ex bike club here.

Sold my 2010 1340 Hayabusa to buy my Z4 2 weeks ago, to be honest myself and she that should be obeyed
Are loving the car we should have done it years ago  :driving:

Thanks everyone
The sun has come out today so looking forward to going out with the top down!
I have still kept my bike. It was only a Honda CG125 which I used for my 10-15 minutes commute only. I used SWMBO's car otherwise.

Hi

Can someone help please?
Yesterday, the drivers door started playing up.
When I come out to the car, I press unlock on the key fob. I can hear the noise of the car unlocking as normal, but when I try and open the drivers door, it won't open.
Have to lock/unlock it a few times. Or put the hood down using the keyfob, and then i can just reach inside and open the door using the inside drivers side door handle.
I checked online yesterday, and quite a lot of people have had various door problems.

I took it to MotorAid in Basildon today (they are an independent that has been recommended on here).
They had a look at the car, and the first thing they noticed was when the car locks and unlocks, the lock pins in the door (driver and passenger side) both go up and down.
However, when locked and the lock pins are down, the drivers pin is not flush like the passengers pin. It goes down further.
Hence when I unlock the car, the drivers pin is not as 'up' as the passengers pin.
He then said it wasn't the GM5 module. He said there was probably something catching on the lock, and so best to have the lock replaced.
They quoted me £60 for the lock, and £120 for labour.
Is £180 sound about right to get this fixed?
Is there anything else I should try? Anything I can do to try and maybe fix it myself?

I've only had the car for 11 days....and want to get this fixed soon as please.

Please advise

Thanks
