I thought I Understood

After a year I thought I had mastered everything to do with the BMW connectivity. App on the phone and everything works well. Then a couple of days ago this message popped up. What does it mean by the access data?
The app on the phone works and I can't seem to see what it wants. I have scanned the QR code but it says it doesn't recognise it. I have tried the PIN code as well. Surely I don't need to enter my lengthy email address and lengthy password...... Anyone any suggestions?

Thanks for the heads up.

So that's about 25 characters for the email and about 15 on the password. 40 goes to get it wrong with the fiddly little dial...... How do we plug a keyboard in......?

It's a fault which BMW are aware of and trying to resolve. I have been getting this for about a week now and it doesn't matter what information you put in it doesn't go away.

When I phoned the connected drive team regarding issues downloading the latest software upgrades, I this message was something to do with that. They said to just ignore it and it will go away shortly.

Ah I was hoping that might be the case. The thought of sitting outside in sub zero temperatures trying to dial in the password and username which probably would have taken me around four hours as it's hard to make sure it's right was daunting.....

Well automatically updated software successfully but still no change to the request to enter access data. I'll give it a few days and if it still doesn't go away then it'll give me something to do for a few days over Xmas (LOL).

I got that after updating, fortunately I have a short email address so it was not to difficult and hasn’t returned

What data did you enter to get rid of it. I have tried every combinations and got nowhere.

I have even deleted the car from the App and re registered it with different email address, pin code and password and nothing works

My 330e too. But only not the zed.
No matter how many times I put it in it always appears after the next cold start. Don’t BMW check their software before release?

I used the bmwgroup.com username and password, the connected drive and bmw.co.uk were rejected.

Thanks

I have deleted the BMW App from my phone, deleted the profile on the car and started again as if a new owner. Created my new profile using the same details on the App, linked it to the car using the QR code and hey presto, the software and map upgrades happened.

Still got that annoying message but after a day at York Christmas market, a home made Spag Bol and more than my fair share of a good bottle of red, think I will have a try to get rid of that tomorrow.

So a bit bored on Xmas Eve so deleted my profile in the car. Created a new profile by scanning the QR code from my phone app into the car and hey ho all sorted. Just had to redo all my personal settings, and there were loads........ Thanks Santa as at least it's all sorted now.

Did that kick start the software update?

Deleting and renewing profiles on the car and the App kicked in the software update and got rid of that annoying request for data and password for me.

After the updates as mentioned in previous posts, I found I had to re apply my map, air on and comfort stuff which is no problem. However, has anyone else with the auto stop start facility noticed anything different?

Before the software update the stop start was the norm and each time I drove off, I had to disable it. Since the update, I have noticed the stop start is switched off and if I want to activate it I have to choose it. This as far as I am concerned is a bonus

Mine still won’t carry out the software even after redoing my profile and fully charging the battery with the CTEK. Nor will it take the latest map update.

Have you deleted and changed your profile on both the car and the BMW App?

I did this and then paired it with the car ( I think there is a QR code you use) then the next time I took the car out for a drive, it worked
