I swapped out my CDV last night

I need to get this done to mine. Still not confidant enough to do it myself though.

My main worry is that I keep reading you WILL need to bleed the system afterwards as clamping the hose will still let air in.

Can you tell by looking if this has already been done, would you see 2 fittings if done 3 fittings if still fitted for example

Yeh, the mechanic who did mine bled the clutch.

Would you even recommend this mod on a car when the clutch already has a high biting point? Want to do it but don't want to prematurely wear the clutch out even more (it will be replaced in the new year, Jan/Feb).

I would recommend this mod on your car. For me, it's going to put a lot less stress on my clutch since I know how to drive a manual already. As another poster said: this is to prevent yahoos and people who've never driven a standard transmission from roasting their clutch.

If you can't release the clutch quickly in 1st and 2nd, it has not been done.

I bled mine afterwards. (Turns out I hadn't let any air in, and didn't need to, but I did it to be safe) I did it with a buddy, and it wasn't a big deal. Buddy pushes down on clutch, you open the bleed valve. Close valve. Repeat as necessary.

Ill come and do it next week for £50 Paul,

Honestly mate you are more than capable to do it yourself and save the cash

Only thing i payed out for was a pipe clamp, which i used at work 2 weeks later and saved me a load of grief.

If you can wait till the new year you can pop around and ill do it for nothing, 15 min job no probs :D :poke:

Thank you for the offer 8) I will attempt it myself if I can get away with just clamping the pipe and not bleeding the system. Is this what you you did?

Paul

£75...!!!!!!!!!

I could be rich doing them for that..

10 mins of a job...

Clamp pipe, when refitted just open the bleed nipple for 30 secs to gravity bleed the system..

Easy..

The two that were done a few months back on my drive did not require any bleeding.

The grip clamp used ensured that no air was going in the system.

Yes Paul
Clamp the pipe and it'll all be good you won't have to bleed, I didn't have to bleed mine.

The offer is still there if you want a hand

Stuart

I may take you up on your offer my brother lives in Southend on sea and I'm often down there visiting. PM me your mobile Stuart and il give you a call if I decide not to do it.

Paul, it really is a 15 minute job. It took me longer to learn how to use the electric lift and find an extra 17mm spanner than it did to swap the CDV. I'm only fair with a set of tools, and I didn't have any problems with it.

engine does not come into it, its a clutch delay valve.

if it makes a difference on a 3.0, it'll be the same on the rest.

Thread revival here as I've just removed mine.

I jacked mine up which reduces your movement/work area but it was straight forward enough. Molegrips or similar to clamp the flexi, 2 x 17mm spanners and an 11mm spanner and your away.

I did by some brake fluid this morning ready for the bleed but I needn't have bothered as clamping the flexi meant there was no need to bleed afterwards. Looks like it's a 6mm bleed nipple if anyone has to bleed afterwards, that space to access it though is as tight as a gnat's chuff.

Certainly feels better while engaging 1st gear.
