I swapped out my CDV last night

What a difference! I wish I had done this mod six months ago. My clutch feels normal for the first time since I bought the car. I immediately took her out for some spirited starts  (for science, of course) and I could not be happier.

If you're considering doing this mod, don't wait.

Would you even recommend this mod on a car when the clutch already has a high biting point? Want to do it but don't want to prematurely wear the clutch out even more (it will be replaced in the new year, Jan/Feb).

Supposedly wears the clutch out more having the CDV in there so long as you know how to drive, its to protect the clutch against lunatics!

I would definately take it out, coming from my last few cars being from other manufacturers the BMW clutch felt a bit rubbish until I had the CDV delete done, now it just feels like a normal clutch, I would recommend it to anyone

wonder why this doesnt make the same night and day difference as the ///M, i think we share the same gearbox etc...

Yes, and that is the car where the difference is the biggest.

do you remove or strip the internals

Just remove altogether, then join the two ends together.

If you put a pipe clamp on the flexi there is no need to bleed

Think the hole on the valve is bigger on an M car so the cdv restricts the flow of clutch fluid less than it does on a non M

still to remove mine.... would it make a difference on the baby 2.0 engine?

also im scared to do this myself as i dont mind trying anything work wise on the car but when it comes to brakes or anything to do with fluids that might need bleeding after id rather play safe and let an expert do it until ive learnt enough to be safe lol

I have a 2.5 and removed mine about 3-4 years back.

Pretty straightforward to do, takes about 45 mins, with access being the biggest hassle.

Personally I didn't think it made a great deal of difference.

I had this done recently too. The difference isn't night and day, but then again, I'd learned how to control it with it fitted. It does definitely make a difference, just have to "learn" how to control a normal clutch again hah.

It's super easy though, there's a good guide video on youtube and I also made one. Didn't have to bleed after either.
