Went in to my local BMW garage to pick up a part I'd ordered a couple of days ago - the salesman ( or sales director as they like to be known ) wandered out and was eyeing up my zed - this is the same bloke who was trying to sell me a 2004 2.2 for nearly £11k a few weeks ago - asks me what I paid for it and if it had a full BMW service history - at this point I could see what was coming and should of drove off! He then told me without a full BMW service history the value of such cars drops like a stone and his car had a much better spec ! My car is a 3 litre SE with 13k less miles and despite having only one non BMW service stamp (with 2 BMW stamps from new ) my car looks in far better nick and cost £2k less. I fully appreciate the value of a full BMW service record especially with a newer car but there are many fully competent indies out there and surely each car is individual anyway and its value really is its condition and how well its been looked after particularly older ones.
