I shopped a drink driver, should I have done?

100% correct decision.

I have the displeasure of knowing (not a friend!) someone who used to drink and drive (although I suspect they probably still do). They had a severe accident one night several years ago when they veered off the road and into a solid brick wall. The car was an instant write-off and they ended up in hospital severely injured for several months. It was touch and go and they certainly could have died that night. Thankfully no other party was involved, except the poor home-owner who had to have his wall rebuilt.

I despise anyone who drinks and drives and hopefully this woman gets the help she obviously needs.
 
Thanks for posting because it gets you to at least think what to do if the same happened us. I think I would have tried to snatch the keys and handed them in to the local nick with the REG plate, although there's the risk of assault charges I suppose. I see it as not only D & D but blatant child abuse/neglect. Well done though Bud. :thumbsup:
 
100% correct decision and unfortunately something I have had to do as well.
You just have to ask yourself if you hadn't reported them and they'd run over and killed a child could you live with the regret of not shopping them?

I couldn't - well done for doing the right thing in my opinion
 
Absolutely right John, as you can see from all the other posts on this thread nobody disagrees with your actions.

Don't beat yourself up over this, would that everyone else were so public spirited!

Joking aside, whilst we all agree you did the honourable thing, how many of us would have done the same? I'm not sure.
 
If you saw someone wielding a knife whilst shopping you wouldn't hesitate in calling the police and not think twice about it the next day. A motor vehicle is a dangerous weapon we are just familiar with it's use and thus become complacent of the consequences when it goes horribly wrong.

As far as I'm concerned the woman wants prison time for the attempted manslaughter of her child, no if's, but's or excuses
 
You did the right thing :happyclap: . I have reported drink drivers in the past, one lived down the road from me and even used to through the empty Gin bottles in the woods opposite us. I kept finding the bottles and one day I see him do it. This is a road where mums and children walk to school so I had no problem getting the tosser of the roads. I would do it all day long, so well done.

Well done, I have shopped 4 drink drivers so far. I tell my mates not to drink and drive in front of me or I will shop them, because I care about them and don't want them killing themselves or others and then have to live with that on their conscience for the rest of their lives.

Every time.

100% agree you did the right thing , there's far too many people who don't stand up and be counted . There's 100's of reason why you are right and not one to say you were wrong.Well done!.
