I put some PZero RFT on the rear. Wow.

I had some MoT advisories about my rear tyres on my 35is, and, since I am selling the car in springtime and will need new tyres on it anyway in order to sell it I thought that I'd replace the two rears now. This car is now my daily driver until I sell it so I will benefit from the new tyres for a bit. At one stage I was going to put N-RFT on with 437M rims as many others have done but since I am selling it I do not want to make that level of investment. So the 326's (no cracks) stay and I wanted some really good RFTs.

So I was searching for a tyre that was "almost" as good as a N-RFT. After some research I decided to put 2 x Pirelli PZero's on. There was a flash offer on them at Kwik-Fit and they were £189 each plus 15% off for two.

Well, all I can say is wow.... they have completely transformed the car, the difference between the Bridgestones that were on before and the car now is like night and day. It is not quite so "nervous". The ride is better, more "assured" and the grip is fabulous in the wet. It really is quite astonishing the difference it has made. If I were to put some new fronts on too I bet it would be equally amazing. However, I am not prepared to make that investment since there is still 3-4-3mm across on them both and the new owner can do that if they choose to.
 
:thumbsup: I think it's been said a few times that modern, high-end runflats are much improved over the originals. I was perfectly happy with Michelin Pilot Sport Zero Pressure on my E86, although it is now on non-runflats. Enjoy it while you still have it :driving:
 
:thumbsup: you never know you may decide to keep it now the handling is improved, I think part of the problem with the old run flats is the rubber goes hard over time.

I changed to all non rft and am happy with them although have anxiety of puncture….I hit a moon crater of a pothole that damaged front tyre and the gunk stuff didn’t do much.

When they need replacing I’m going back to run flats for peace of mind, but it won’t be the Bridgestone shite that was on before.

Well mate, I highly recommended the PZero RFT.
 
I've had various brands of RFTs on other BMWs including Pirelli, Continental & Hankook winters and they have all been better than the godawful Bridgestone Potenzas my first 2 coupes had!

Although the Pirellis were definitely the best. :)
 
wish this had been posted 6 months ago. The next tyre change for me will be all 4 at once so will give these a try. :thumbsup:
 
Although a huge improvement from the Bridgestones I wonder how these Pzero RFT compare to Non runflats, will non runflats be better still in terms of ride comfort handling etc?

I believe so. Sidewalls of non-rfts will be softer, improving the ride further.
