I phone to car problem

Hi,

Up until recently I've had no problems with plugging my I phone 5 in using a lead into the port under the armrest, the graphics come up on the I drive screen and all was well but after not using the car for approx 3 weeks or so now when I plug in, the I drive refuses to play off the I tunes list. I go into external devices, click on the phone which has been recognised no problem, go to playlist which is displayed but when I click on an artist the screen goes to playlist but says artist and song not recognised, I can get all the artists and songs listed up but it won't play anything I click on. I can connect the phone Bluetooth but I have to change tracks using the phone itself, not good when driving so I don't do it. It's very frustrating as I can't help think it's something I've nudged and will be easily sorted.

Any of you phone tech minded guys gals can throw any light on it I'd be very grateful.

Did you try a different cable? One of my Amazon special iPhone 5 connectors is just bad and charges the phone in about 10 hours and won't play the music. Perhaps you can try a different one.

Worth a try, I thought of it but dismissed it as the I drive is getting the track listings so a connection is there but I will try thanks PVR.

There are many cables on a connector, they do different functions and one just might have got disconnected and it would still partly work.

You can try it when you pop out to dust the wheels

True regarding the cable, I shall nick the boss's when she's not looking.

The wheels need more than a dusting, I've actually used the car is in the wet for the first time, sent my OCD into warp factor, was popping beta blockers like smarties.... :roll:

No joy with a different lead. Screen says USB John's i phone unknown artist, title and album.

Gaffers I phone worked no probs on the original lead so it's my I phone, what have I switched off, altered etc?

Did you clean your connector in the phone itself? Can get very dirty and make bad contact as if it was a bad contact.

I assume you have rebooted your phone.

I had a problem with the connector on my iPhone 5. One of the techies in the workshop had a look and noticed some fluff stuck right in the connector. After carefully extracting it (use something not metallic) and plugging it in again it was fine. The fluff was just enough from preventing the connections seating properly.

How do you reboot it?

It's barely 3 months old and looks clean in the connection port which has a rubber cover over it so I don't think it's that but a good thought thanks Redline.

Correct.

A PSA to you all, don't use the sleep/wake button + home button combination to restart the phone. Turn it off properly.
