I now have a leak...

Passenger footwell is soaking... wondered why one side of the windscreen and the passenger side window quite often had condensation on them.

Its booked in on 2nd of January for 5 days under warranty and the muppets want £100 for the pleasure of supplying me with a courtesy car for that period as I have to be added to their insurance... i wouldnt have thought they had to pay £20 a day for someone to be added to the insurance to drive a courtesy car!!

Well, when my old car went in for a service at a local BMW indy, it cost £0 as i put it on my own insurance. Would appear this is not an option.

£100 to take my car in under warranty!!!

Someone mentioned that it could be related to the heating/aircon system. It is indeed a good job i got the warranty.

I went for a high spec 2.5 with a warranty over a lower spec 3.0 - so quite happy I did really.

Would hate to have to be covering this myself!!

More likely a leak from the lower side window seal down the inside of the door dripping between the frame and the door card, or running around the dor seal. I've seen it a few times on the board and happened to mine.

Core leak would smell strongly of antifreeze and if wet enough to be steaming the car woudl have low coolant levels fairly quickly

Still under warranty so you'll soon know. :)

Will they replace door cards etc if the problem has caused damage of will they just fix?

Not that I dont trust BMW, but you never know?

If the door is the problem, they would likely simply fit a new membrane on the inside of the door. Unless there is visible damage you'd be lucky to get a £450 door card out of them...

Having spoken to a guy who works for the BMW dealership in question, he reckons they will do absolutely everything they can, as they claim the money back - and labour etc from BMW. Therefore, they more work they do, the more money they make.

Wouldnt appear to be...

I will let BMW sort it out when they have the car. Will be expressing my annoyance to everyone that will listen. Including an email tomorrow to the guy who sold me the car, less than a month ago.

Actually I don't buy that as a story for 2 reasons. Firstly the warranty labour rate is much lower than the customer labour rate so they would prefer to do non warranty work and all claims for parts are closely scrutinised by BMW. My daughters Mini needed 2 new leather door cards due to some valeting overspray on them and it took days for BMW to approve the work, even though it was obvious they were trashed. They even paid a valeter to try to clean them down first.

Passenger footwell soaking? Sounds exactely the same problem I had on my TT roadster, turned out to be a blocked drainage channel which needed cleaning out, will be interesting to see what it turns out to be. Unlucky mate

id agree on them liking warrenty work as i used to work at bm when i was a student- its easy and guranteed money.
