Washed the car yesterday, hosing the back bumper and noticed water bouncing up inside the indicator sections on both sides - and they still work!!!!
So, whats the cheapest supplier fellas? I have found them at Magneti Marelli at a sniff under £200 a side, anyone seen them cheaper.

They have gone up since I last had to replace.
Probably import VAT since leaving the EU.

ECP seem to have a promotion on them currently.

£161.31 (each) on carpartsforless.co.uk +20% discount on 1st order + free delivery (makes them about £129 each I think)

Top tip, got the pair for £274 :-) with free delivery

You may also have to replace the seals around the lights as well, as that may be where the water is getting in, there’s been a recent post on the subject where the seals haven’t been fitted correctly.

Seals are built into lamps.
Part of the bad design that lets water in is the need for a separate part to have the the seals molded in.
The seal under that part lets water in.

In addition, you need two foils to close the 3rd hole, that is not required anymore for new clusters.

Hey Robbie, thanks for the post but -
1. What is a foil? Do you mean gasket??
2. The link is to a german web page!

1. A foil is a foil, or an adhesive film.
2. What is the problem? I also have to translate your answer. :D
Google translate will translate the complete German forum with all collected Z4 basics even 4 you.
To be honest, this German thread is regarding the same topic, where I"ve placed a list of part numbers, which are the same in UK.
Just to complete this topic.

Didn't know you are German Robbie, fancy arranging a Z4 run to the Nurburgring :driving:

Don't worry, it's an honor not to be recognized as a "Kraut" right away.

But - I'm Robbi or RobbiZ4.

Back to topic: when replacing the backlights with new ones, an old 3rd hole indeed has to be sealed with a foil, that BMW offers with the above listed part number. If you forget this, water will run into the trunc even with the new backlights.

You dodged the Nurburgring question chum :-) That would be an epic 'drive'....

If the lights are still working you might be able to just 'reseal' them and not have to buy a new pair... which will probably also leak anyway! :o :P

They were way beyond help, the indicator refelctors had dulled making the turn signal hard to see in daylight.

My new Magnetti Marelli rear lamp clusters arrived early the next morning! Delivery driver was incredible, he/she actually sent me a text while i was in the gym asking if I was in and if not where to leave them, I told him/her next door and they confirmed the delivery with a photo..... Beat that hermes......
Took about 40 minutes to swap them over, its worth noting that newer lamps only have two securing studs (thanks for the advice chaps), whereas older have three. Important to blank off the unused hole and I used two small patches of construction flashing tape back to back either side of the hole. BMW sell a waterproof tape but I prefer something I KNOW will work.
Another caution, pull the seals through and ensure they are properly seated BEFORE you tighten the lamp securing nuts....
I left the boot interior trim off and hosed the car as well as the endless rain we are having and no leaks so reassembly is today.
I purchased a brilliant set of trim removal tools from eurocarparts for £12, screwfix do a great set for £11 but they were closed....
