I must be colour blind

Anyone have any idea what colour these wheels could be?

I have a couple of paint chips around the wheel bolts from having them on and off so much that I'd like to touch up a little. The guy that sold them said he had them sprayed in gunmetal, but it's no gunmetal I've ever seen. I've been through every gunmetal, graphite and anthracite I can find and nothing comes close. Its like a really dark grey, in some light it can even appear black. I just wonder if anyone has come across anything similar?

(Ignore the state of the car in these pics, it was in between about five different jobs at once!)

No help here, I’ve seen lots of guns and it’s all grey to me, no pun intended.

Nice looking wheels BTW.

Whatever it is you can just keep adding black touch up to your grey until you get the right shade. Easy enough.

id go with Vauxhall Meteor grey - I had a set of grey centred bbs lm reps like yours and that's what I used to touch up , was pretty cock on.

Sorry can't help with the wheels but those are interesting covers you seem to have on you wheel bolts. Don't think ive ever seen anything quite like that before.

Yes I've just not seen anything like them. Maybe I need to spend more time on ebay!😁

Or just hang around down your local shooting range - being in Manchester, just go outside your front door :D

Hmmm... they were about £3.50 on ebay but the seller has been removed :?

If the guy painted them with rattle cans it could be any colour.
The chances of you finding the exact colour will be difficult.

On a serious note I would be tempted to start with a Matt black touch up. It will give your eyes a good base to see just how light/dark the grey actual is. Nothing worse than touching up a dark colour with one that's actual lighter and sticks out like a sore thumb. The Matt black will blend well and certainly not be noticeable against the grey. To be honest on the screen I'm looking at I would have swore the wheels were black not grey so unless it's your camera they must be very dark grey in the flesh.

So what was done to the shell casings to have them fit/stay on etc ? Trimmed back for sure but what else? Are they low base, high base.? I'd love to see a few pics of one.

....and I just bought a flat of shotgun shells last week :)

For a grey they are incredibly dark, but definitely grey not black. Looking at the RAL colour chart in the link they look closest to Black Grey 7021, which is I guess one step away from black so I've ordered a tin of that but I like your tip and think I'll do that first before I apply the black grey, and I'll test the paint on something else before applying it to the wheel.

They came pre cut and are the perfect size for 17mm wheel bolts. Nothing else needed to fit they just slip on and stay on tight. They need lacquering top keep them from rusting. A few pics below.
