It's feckin' hilarious how many people think the cupholders are crap because they don't know how they work - isn't it in the manual ?

BTW, for a standard coke can, push the 'arm' in till it stops then gently push it one more click (can in or out of the holder)
I don't think most people (myself included) think to read an owner's manual to investigate poorly-designed cupholders. Is that how you discovered it, or were you told by someone how they worked?

In any case, since so many are unaware of it, it's clearly not the best design.

I'm not sure if mine are the same as yours, but when you push the cup holder back in the arm moves inward with a clicking sound. This instantly told me that they were adjustable.

I have cupholders and have never bothered trying to find out how they work as I think they are pointless
If I need a drink I get out of the car , the last thing I want is a sticky drink splashing all over my interior and it's also illegal to drink on the move

It's an automatic, hope that helps.

Nice to see another stratus coupe on the forum.

I've no cup holders at all, in fact ive virtually nothing bar heated seats. I find a bottle of water fits snugly between the outside of the drivers seat bolster and the door panel.

Not sure if they're the same? The upper arm folds in and the bottom piece folds up, but nothing clued me in to the fact that the bottom piece can be adjusted outward. I'm just happy to have found out.

 about you making up it possibly being in the manual.
And no worries; I took no offense (offence?).

Sweet looking motor mate, even if it does have a fixed roof, tho can understand why with sandstorms etc.

Only had mine 3 weeks, and I'm still finding things out about lol!

Now I cn go look at my cup holders in more detail, as I thought they were pretty useless when I first saw them lol

Enter the last 7 digits of your VIN number here and it will show the spec of your car as it left the factory!!

http://www.rubmw.ru/vincode/eng/

Or you can use the official ETK website for the same purpose: http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/accessories/electronic-parts-catalogue/electronic-parts-catalogue.html

Use the default login and password, enter you VIN and use the tab at the top of the screen.

Loving the wheels on yours

+11111!

This looks like such a clean car from the outside; love the colour and wheel combo, very very nice. Although not a 'sporty' look, its one of the nicest I've seen. Well done
