I know I'm ancient but ................

As you know my annual mileage is practically bugger' all so I've never used many of the "basics" or "extras" in my zed - only take it out when it's warm and sunny so never even had the AC on ( why would you with the roof down :? ) Anyway today I thought it's about time I mastered all the controls after all I've owned it for over 3 years ! - I have all the handbooks so this should be a doddle  Start with Sport button - piece of piss - press for on - press again for off - move on to A/C - ah this is a bit tricky - fiddled with this first right then left - pressed something and got blasted with some cold air - well it works but all that faffing about - is it worth it  Now it gets serious - Sat Nav - studied the handbook instructions - pressed a few buttons and turned some knobs - map comes up on the screen showing where I live so must be working - then She tells me to go up the road a hundred yards and turn right - what the fcuk ? Alright it's working but baffling how to get a new destination - the previous owner lived in Wincanton and clearly had a few saved addresses - "She" kept telling me how to get back there - by this time I had lost the will to live so turned it back to CD but as I was driving along She still kept on talking ( just like SWMBO ) how the fcuk do you turn it off ????? Finally got round to finding a Nokia mobile charging in it's designated receptacle in the centre console compartment - presumably to do with the " Bluetooth " - bear in mind I have a 10 year old Pay As You Go mobile - I've got more chance of getting a loan off my kids than to master this contraption - anyway we're off to Venice tomorrow :D :D :D :D

I would'nt worry Gov, you can make the thing go and stop, what more does one need? Just more crap to go wrong if you use the toys.

Great totally off the wall irrelevant comment at the end about Venice, made me laugh!

Have a great trip.

Can't help with any of the 'tech issues' but Venice is beautiful so enjoy the sights and the stunning food on offer!!

There's no rush to learn how to use your Zed! Anyway, should you ever want to go to Wincanton it will all be worthwhile!

He might have to just to shut that bitch up...! :D

Same reason why I've never posted a picture on here. ( can't be arsed to find out how).
Enjoy your trip to Venice

Brilliant post OP!

I'm just like you, but thankfully my Z4 doesn't have tw*t-nav and even I can work a CD player!

Hopefully you have a relative/neighbour/mate with a teenager to sort your techie issues.

And enjoy Venice - fantastic place to visit!

The Z4 sat-nav is such a faff, I use my Garmin as it has voice control. That comes unstuck when the roof is down though as it doesn't hear too well. I must have looked like a right nutter driving through Evesham the other week on my own shouting "Gloucester..... Glou cester..... bl**dy Gloucester" as she proceeded to ask me if I wanted to go to Boston or Towcester :headbang:

On the Venice front we watched Francesco da Mosto's Venice on BBC4 last night - another place on the must visit list. Have a good time.

TBH we use our Garmin when we need to - so much simpler - brings back memories when you mention Evesham - worked at Long Lartin from 82 - 85 - lived in a tiny hamlet called Barton near Bidford - nice part of the country :D

We're in Lido now - 25c - just relaxing on the beach -will brave Venice tomorrow !

Saw a couple of sharp suited dudes in shades walking along - I was about to ask them if they would do a selfie with me as I assumed they were a tribute act for the Blues Brothers - my wife said probably not a good idea as they looked more like Mafiosi

Venice is beautiful but the price of a gondola
Is eye watering .
Pay extra for a singer to serenade you !
I did tell my wife I would pay on the condition
He sang the English version.
Just a one cornetto.
I can't say on here her response :o
Greg

Thanks for this, I feel quite young now.

The nav's not much use in the countryside, with not enough detail to show, but otherwise I like it.
