... to the mods this year, but I couldn't help finding my brakes a little wanting last weekend (well it was 30+ degrees and I'm slowly finding my groove around the 'Ring ;)). Anyhow, after a little internet research the other night, I found a company that makes Carbon Ceramics for our lovely cars...

I couldn't help but send an email to see what the damage was. I knew it would be high - most factory CC brakes (on F430s and 997 GT3s et al) are in the £5k+ mark...

Well the price to us is a wonderful £4325.. or thereabouts. I must say, they are very nice though. Weight reduction is almost 50% over a "normal" big brake kit - saving approx 5-6kg per wheel - a huge reduction in unsprung weight. The discs also wear at an incredible rate, with discs expected to last well over 100,000 miles even with hard track use!

Better yet, you can simply transfer the kits between cars. So you buy the kit now, use it on your Z4M (or whatever), and then when the time comes to sell, replace the standard brakes and re-fit the kit with new brackets onto your next car.

I must admit, it's all very tempting. But the bank balance won't stomach that kind of money this year! Will keep it in mind for next perhaps. I'm seeing if theres any movement on that price, one way or another, but not holding my breathe!

I have the normal 4 piston 342 x 34mm kit on order for my Alpina Roadster S. The problem I have is that it's impossible to fit these on the front axle with the offset of the Alpina Dynamic wheels (which have a slightly deeper dish). I will have the fenders widened to create space for the brakes.
