I just don't get it....

4 months for killing someone whilst driving without a licence and running from the scene. I think the judge who passed that sentence needs to be sued. Surely at the point of the original offence and conviction this idiot should have been deported.
In the early 80's my parents lived in the middle east, sentences were still passed to cut hands off for theft, normally the sentences were commuted to deportation. What is our problem with dealing with crime in this country?

The feeling on this website is echoed all across the board i think.

What gets me is that it seems a large majority of people want to make criminals pay, we have a vote why isn't there a way we can use it to change the law?

I think I can tell you why he was allowed to stay. It goes on in the USA all the time. When a person comes to the states. (legal or not) The politicians see this new person as a new voter to add to the existing ones. Thereby increasing their base support. That is why both democrats and republicans in America will do everything in their power to give every right afforded to legal citizens. To illegal immigrants. They want to buy their vote.

I'm sure that there is a similar systemic problem in GB, And most of the EU for that matter. And for some time now the average legal citizen trying to make ends meet is far to busy working to be bothered with politics or voting. Whereas the un or underemployed citizen or illegal immigrant on welfare feels an obligation to vote. Especially for the guy that gives him/her the most free money. The squeaky wheel gets the oil.

Of course this is not the way it should be. But it is. And also, This is my opinion and I may be way off base. But I think not.

I wish it were that simple, but sadly it arises from our often misguided sense of 'fair play' and our commitment to being ruled by that bureaucratic nightmare called the EU. :headbang:

David Camerons response is ONE OF GREAT ANGER I'm sure that's a great comfort to Amys father
Basically the system we have in this country leaves us with a complete toothless government. Perhaps other regimes have got it right on certain issues.
I despair :x

The father was on the Jeremy Vine show this afternoon and i really felt for him the injustice is disgusting,i should'nt say this but i hope the driver of the car will get his comeuppance in one way or another.

This same sort of thing happened to my cousin's daughter. She was crossing a road and an imigrant had borrowed his dads taxi, ploughed her down and dragged her 200yrds along the road with her head under the car. Heart wrenching times and my cousin swore revenge as nothing was coming of it. Guy went court and got away with nothing much moe than a slap on the wrist and communit service. Needless to say, my cousin being the resourcefull type found him way down south and gave him a real good sorting, not that it would of brought his daughter back but he needed some form of closure. he dropped his sunglasses, police involved and he had to do 8 months inside. Justice system is a mess and great britain is just a european spongers market now a days imo.
