I have to take my mother to the supermarket a couple of times a month as my father no longer drives - she is elderly and I am past my prime - she loves the zed and we always use the parent and child bays for damage limitation reasons- I once had an altercation with a mother in a Black Sharron with 2 very ugly children - she got quite personal in the end after being very polite and very "British" I ended up telling her to get a life and to feck off - priceless LOL

It is simply because they are just twats, trying to be funny...that is the answer.
I have had mates do the same in their old wrecks at work.
Happened to me only today, I was not happy and have decided to park bang in the middle of 2 spaces when next in the above situation. I might get keyed but at least that will by somebody happy to do criminal damage that may well be picked up on the cameras. A mate in his 1 month ols 3 series was parked up last week, a Jag parked next to him and the wind blew the Jags door into his while the woman was putting the shopping in the boot. He got out and pointed out that she had damaged his car to which she said sorry and shrugged her shoulders. He said I want your details and whilst getting a pen out the car she drove off.
I'll put up with the stick I will get for parking in 2 spaces in empty car parks from now on

Bing - he did manage to get her reg and he hadn't reported it before he spoke to him (has now)! The damage was done to the door handle, £150 for the part unpainted/fitted. In other words the bills not going to be dissimular to a 'bump'. WHY people think its normal/acceptable to damage the car parked next to them is beyond me
It happened to me tonight, pulled into macdonald's with my daughter and loads of free spaces so I parked up. Whist inside some tw*ts in a Clio pulled up along side my car (drivers side) and 4 toss*rs got out the drivers door because he had park to close to mine they couldn't open the passenger door!!!!
When we left they were standing by their car thinking they were great, I thought how am I getting in the car, luckily I had programmed the car so I could drop the roof from the key fob, this helped me climb in with door only just open, their faces look gob smacked, reversed out and drove off well chuffed.
