You're very likely to get a key down the side of it though. Personally, I think this is the worst thing you can do. :thumbsdown:

Why would someone walk onto an empty car park, and key a car that was poorly parked???????
My local Virgin club has 2 car parks. Front is free entry and side one controlled by a pin code barrier (used to get full of driving lesson cars, McDonalds eaters,pikeys, etc.).
Now people are so lazy they double park at the front, wait for slots, park on the paths, etc.
Joy for me as a few of us park at the side and waste the extra 5 second walk. We all seem to just park in alternate slots and staggered on each row.
Long may this continue and I can park safely

Its only a car and its not like they are that rare. I park wherever I feel like. OK I would be annoyed if someone hit the car but its just a car at the end of the day.
Someone hit my car in the car park, I was annoyed they had hit it and just driven off. If they had left a note it really wouldnt of bothered me, can always get it fixed

They park their crap cars next to yours so if someone is going to steal a car it's not theirs that gets chosen...

In full car parks, I take pleasure in squeezing my tatty old E46 320d commuter truck into tight spaces created by badly parked cars that straddle two spaces, just to make life harder for the inconsiderate (not quite the scenario you describe). I even take photos of my car and that adjacent before leaving the car lest they leave the space as carelessly as they entered :evil:
It's not just carparks ,when we used to caravan ,you could park as far away from the facilities etc and no one around you .
Go out for day and the only new van in would have parked close to you leaving the rest of the site largely unpopulated

Parked my week old Freelander at supermarket on the edge of the carpark so to reduce risk of damage from one side, this left a space on the other side then another car had parked, stacks of other spaces elsewhere , when we got back an Audi TT had managed to squeeze in between, as we all know being only a two door, the doors are huge, so how the hell they managed to get out is a mystery, after close inspection i found a mark on my door same colour paint as the Audi, there must have been hundreds of spaces i just could not understand why they would want to make it so awkward for themselves to get in and out.
This always happens, so now I just try and park next to "nice" cars that are clearly some-ones pride and joy, and not a company car, no obvious signs of kids or hats/cushions/tissue boxes....

I know how you feel.
I returned to this....I parked in the empty part of the car park. and close to mine was an old shed of a car in crap condition...not trying to protect anything.
Why are people puzzling over why they do it?
It is simply because they are just twats, trying to be funny...that is the answer.
I have had mates do the same in their old wrecks at work.
