Hi guys, I just removed the hardtop on my Z4 after 2 months. When I closed the roof for the first time, there was this green-yellowish fluid on it... is it hidraulic fluid...? Hoping it's not a leak...

Roof motor oil is usually golden coloured and thin, only green fluid would be LHM fluid as used on old style Citroen and Rolls Royce suspension systems. Since your fluid is on the drivers side any leaks from the roof hydraulics would be either the pipes that run around the back of the cabin from the pump housed over on the passenger (left) side or the Ram on the side of the leak. Could be someone else has been in there and used LHM fluid, do you know the history of the car, has it had previous owners?

Thanks for the reply. Since this little incident, I cleaned this off and never found any other traces of this fluid. And the soft top works just fine as well. So, no idea what it was, but whatever.

Bit of a mystery then, is the roof motor still in the original place or has it been moved to the boot?

Not joking but could a cat have sat on the closed roof a had a pee or someone accidentally spilt a drink? :?
