Hi all, new to the forum and new to Z4s - bought my first last week having traded in a dreary old 2006 118i.

Picked up a one-owner 2011 23i sDrive in Titanium Silver and I'm absolutely in love with it. Obligatory pictures attached. It's a poverty-spec model so I've joined the forum to see what mods are popular - in particular I think I'll retrofit cruise control (but get a specialist to code it, that's a bit too techy for me!) and I'd love to make it just a fraction louder to really enjoy those overrun burbles. Can anybody recommend something they've done that amps up the exhaust note a touch (while not making it totally unbearable as a daily)?

Hello and welcome, nothing wrong with a 23i. Was my first Z4, silver too, and it was a very nice place to be :thumbsup:

Well done for pics in your first post.

I think cruise is a plug and play, the bits are available on here every now and the but Sopers of Lincoln do forum discounts if you mention you’re a member when enquiring.

Exhaust wise, there’s a few options from modifying your current one to custom made quad pipes but I’ll let someone who has more experience fill you in on that.
 
Thanks Andy! I saw Dave's excellent cruise control thread while lurking earlier and I've been trawling eBay ever since for a good set of stalks. Thanks for the warm welcome.
 
Hi Tony, car looks great... I've had a 23i for the last 7 years and its been fantastic. You will get lots of ideas on here and build your shopping list of to do tasks.

Sorry I can't offer any help regarding E89s though - they are too new for me!
 
Hi and welcome to the forum, nice looking Z4 you have there. I was looking at exhausts myself just the other day. If you look on Youtube there are plenty of videos of the 23i with Eissenman, Superprint Akroprovich and Remus back boxes (cat back I believe) of the lot I am liking how the Supersprint sounds and how tail pipes look although not sure how realistic the sound is on video. You can also have it custom made by a specialist exhaust shop.

Nice looking motor and in my view nothing wrong with 'poverty spec'.
Much less to go wrong. In years to come you'll enjoy reading all the tales of woe from the top spec model owners who's fancy gadgets have packed up. :thumbsup:
 
Nice car, you could start with a resonator delete or a modded backbox or both for more exhaust note, I've done both on my 23i and it sounds great to my ears with no drone at all :thumbsup:
