I have to admit to looking a bit of a C**k

So for the first time since having my car i arrived at a set of traffic lights on a national speedlimit duel carrageway and i was first in line.... so i thought i would try out the launch control..........

Set it all up, knew the lights we about to change so put my left foot on the brake and right hard down on the trottle (engine at 3500rpm ish making quite a noise). The lights went green and i took my foot off the brake........

Next thing i know i shoot off down the road in a cloud of tyre smoke and hell of a lot of noise.

Now while i like to think the people behind me and across the other side of the road were saying: "look at the speed that car got of the line" i suspect it is more likely they were saying "what a C**K"

Well you are braver than me , I will have owned mine 2 years come January and I still havent tried that particular function

i dont even have to do that to look like a **** most of the time...envy is a terrible thing

I don't have the button but i would be looking a c**k a lot if i did. In fact i am sure i look a c**k most of the time anyway. chasBMW I think the gauntlet has been thrown down......... :poke:

oh come on you have to try it at least once! find a nice dry straight road and give it a go!

i was just talking about that to my dad, i was tempted when i was in at the dealer to ask if i could have a shot of the auto z4 demo ( i have manual )and do it up the industrial estate  :driving:

better thiers, than mine

Well to be fair i would say the same about yours.... 870 miles in 7 months poor thing doesnt even know what a road looks like! :poke: :P

Let's face it, you'd have looked more of a cock if you'd left the handbrake on... Oh hang on, hand brakes not your thing right ?

Seriously though, great effort - you'll never see them again, so who cares

 and at the next set of lights did they all pull up in the same position behind you

Tim.
It's happened to me (genuinely). But I was on-tow in my 330i so I think it's fine, just about...

I've experienced launch control in a mates previous company car (A3 quattro, 2.0T 200bhp) and it felt brutal on the car. But he used it a lot - company car remember - and it didn't break in the 55k miles or so he had it.

I waited the allotted time for the car to break in and tried it, twice so far in 3 years....

with over 390 hp and 425 lbs of torque I'm not interested in straining the drive train that much using launch. It does work well though . barely any smoke, a little wheel spin at first then off like a top fuel dragster ( not quite but it's pretty damnned fast ) 8)
