I have a cunning plan

The Golf is still in the workshop 3 weeks after being rear ended and a £6606-18p repair bill being totted up. However, haaving got panels off, garage discovered shell is twisted. It may be beyond economic repair.

A plan is forming..............if I get a good reasonable write off settlement, I may put in the money with my 53 Z4 as p/x for the new shape Z4. I drove the 35is a while ago and liked it, but could probably only go for the 23 which is fast enough for me to be honest. The wife preferred the new one as it was more refined.

My current one is a more visceral drive and I like the fact you have to hang on by the seat of your pants when you drive it. But as each day goes by, comfort becomes more of a priority.

Anyone got the 23 (2.5)? and any views on it?

Good morning Petach, have had a 23 since December, company car that replaced a Golf. Have had no regrets, puts a smile on my face every time I drive it :D . Ok the performance isn't up to the 30 or 35 but enough for me, most trips are A roads in Dorset, Somerset and Devon and it means limited opportunities for overtaking but there is more than enough there to ensure you don't get into trouble! Had the PDC fitted and very glad so make sure you get that, only disappointment I guess is the standard sound system which is poor, the Sony fitted in our 30 year old camper is more audible and roof down forget the radio. Mine is black which means a trip fortnightly to Sainsburys to get it cleaned, living in Bournemouth we have issues with seagulls and I already have a mark which needs attention!

My wife says she doesn't like it, (bit different to the camper) but then watch her face when she floors it

Get one and enjoy!!

You let your wife floor it? :crazydude: I don't even let the wife drive it

From a facelift 2.5i Sport Roadster to sDrive23i M Sport, I can still see improvement on performance (0.5sec faster from 0-62mph). But the new car is much more refined. The M Sport suspension on 23i is firmer than standard one (I tried a standard 30i auto), but better than my old car.

30i is £3k more than 23i, and gives you extra 0.8sec and 54hp. For the extra money, I would rather spend more options, e.g. multimedia package instead. Of course, more power is always better. :D
