Q2 Yes - the replacement clear from amber is a common mod. you also usually do the rear center brake light from red to clear.
BMW offer a kit part number 6321 0 154 263 for £245, that also included white spot rear brake lights, however I think you can get it cheaper from some aftermarket suppliers and buy individually
