I got another one!

So I sold up my gorgeous E86 3 months back...but I really fancied the roof off experience, so have just picked up an E85!

Great run back from the sellers place 75 miles away. Does need a few things though...

Indicators have come on twice whilst parked, seems ok now, it beeped once too. Seller says the battery is old and potentially on the way out. Would be good to get that changed (I can recharge it overnight on the charger anyway to give it a little umph till then). Anyone advise on battery replacements? Also I remember I think seeing that the battery had to be registered? I have a Creator 410 which I think does this, not entirely sure what that means though, never heard of that before!

Otherwise:

Roof needs a good tidy up.
Bought a headlight restoration kit.
Bought a bluethooth module to sit behind the head unit.
Looking at spacers...I am thinking 15/20mm (I have the MV2 wheels)
Going to refurbish the seats and steering wheel with a leather restoration kit
Engine bay needs a full degrime
Valvetronic motor and oil cap need new gaskets

Otherwise the car is in pretty good condition, motor relocated to the boot which is a good job done.

Im almost ashamed to post a pic as I havent spent hours cleaning it (I am OCD cleaning fanatic) :D

Good to know about the coding, looking at ebay looks like a Lion 70ah seems it would do the job, only £58.

The only photo I got so far...

Wheels are spotless, recently refurbed, and has Michelin PS4 all round with decent tread which is very handy.
Its got the exact spec I wanted - M sports stuff (seats/suspension etc) no pop up nav, heated seats, electric seats, electric foldable wing mirrors (I park on the street) it even had a ZHP gear knob already in there. Has the upgraded HiFi too with the bass speakers behind the seats.

Indicators comming on may be down to a bad engine bay bonnet alarm switch, disconnect it and see if it stops doing it, if you use the key to lock the car in the door lock it will not set the alarm. The alarm is set when you lock with the remote button on the key.
Don't go cheap with the battery 70Ah should suffice.

Thank you, yes I am aiming at 70ah for the battery. The point of not spending big on a car and working on it is that I dont mind a budget to repair. I just smashed ebay and lots turning up in the next few days!

Happy to be back in the car though...missed it a lot.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a Yuasa HSB110 (now relabled as YBX5110) battery for replacement.
My local Halfords fiited it for £132 all in three years ago to replace the original BMW item.
Car was starting ok but I was getting all sorts of spurious things happening.
The new battery sorted it all out

QQ - the height of this is 175mm, which is short of the 190mm overhead bracket, was that a problem at all? Did you pad it out?

I've got a Yuasa YBX5096 in mine, seems to fit fine.

Thanks. Yes I am sure it will fit ok. I got the brackets etc. to hold it in place. I think the bracket over the top does nothing anyone in terms of securing it.
