I dumped the RFTs for non-RFTs and WOW

My 2006 3.0si came with the stock RFTs.. I think they were Bridgestone RE040 or something. Anyway, I HATED them. The ride was so rough, so bumpy, people hated riding with me. Driving more than an hour made my whole body ache. I waited until there was enough wear on them for me to have an excuse to replace them. I did some research and decided to get the Continental ContiSportContact 3 tires. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. I wish I had these on the car from day one. The ride is so much better now, so much more comfortable, and it's just a joy to drive. It's the perfect balance between sporty handling and comfort. The tires look great, and are also very quiet - much quieter than the Bridgestones - and now all I hear is the sweet sound of the engine and note of the exhaust.

I HIGHLY recommend getting the Conti's. They're worth it!

p.s. this is my first post!

YA, those RFT's are a great safetycrat introduction to a terrible idea.

I replaced mine like you did wore them off as fast as possible to find a reason to replace them with Real tires.

So much fun drifting the corners at a constant rate rather than wondering if and when the RFT would decide to jump loose.

welcome to the NON run flat club...... i only have heard of one person who found no difference between RFT and normal... go figure.

NIGHT and DAY as far as i am concerned!

I've got the same effect from going from (sacrilege I know) CSLs to original Z4MC wheels & tyres.

The CSLs felt like what I assume RFTs feel like, and it was just annoying, skittery, and plain wrong.

I don't know how so many people can be blind to this and follow the 'CSLs are best' mantra. Unless you've got billiard table smooth roads everywhere and have time to avoid EVERY matchstick, fag paper and blade of grass on the road, then CSLs are not for you.

Yep - I'm about 10 days into my Falken ownership and they are just getting settled in. What a revelation compared to the Bridgestones. :driving:

Flat Tire? Has everyone added a mobility kit or spare?

I've added a mobility kit AND I've got a spacesaver, and I've not even fitted my non-RFTs yet

They are sitting in my garage awaiting fitting though :D
