I daren't open my windows in the morning...

I got my beautiful brand new Z4 2.5i in July and all has been great...

The fine weather and the sunshine have made me realise its the best car in the world (and I've had Z3's, so its was a close run thing), but now the days are getting damp and the mornings a bit misty/dew like, I have discovered a real problem with the zed...

When I get in the car, the water runs from the roof and down the drivers pillar and into the car - ending up all over me, the electric switches for the windows and mirrors and getting stuck into the leather door trims - and that's just during the door opening. Heavens forbid I actually open the window to swipe my work pass or wave to someone one - I am drenched!

Is it just mine, or has there been a design flaw in my beautiful car? It didn't happen with the old Z3...

Any help or advice would be appreciated!
 
Nope - it's a 'design feature'!! I always make sure that I've come to a completed stop before I open my window to swipe my pass - that seems to work
 
:? How do you cope if it's raining in on you? Have you ever had a knock on problem with your electrics because of all the water coming in??

Yup both of mine did this but then so does the porsche so BMW arent alone , mostly I worry about water going into window/mirror switches but in 4 years of z4 ownership it didnt cause a problem
 
In six years I've had water on the door controls a handful of times. Rarely happens and it's a non issue to me.
 
The interior seems pretty good at surviving a drenching......
don't ask how I found out.
Took two bath towels to dry off...no harm done.
 
Definitely a feature of the car. I just have a cloth nearby so I can dry the interior as soon as I have shut the window.
 
Thanks for the replies- I have a cloth on stand by but it's a bit of a disappointing irritation...

Doesn't mean I don't love my car though.. ☺️
 
My first E89 did this, usually after heavy rain when I was backing out of my drive with the window open I'd get a right soaking.

However my second and third E89s haven't done it at all, I only just realised after reading this thread. Weird or what?
