I cringed - Merc driver destroys rim

Was out for a blast in the zed this morning, and witnessed car cruelty that would make any petrol head cringe.

I'm approaching a fork in the road where one lane splits into two lanes. I'm behind a Merc, who is very impatient. There's not quite enough room for the Merc to get into the "new" outside lane, as there's a queue of traffic in front blocking him.

The Merc decides to try and squeeze through the gap. But there's not enough room. So instead, the Merc pushes his car against the kerb, hoping that magic will lift his car over the 6 inch high kerb. I watched in horror as the driver steered directly into the kerb, stripping paint and metal off the rim of the wheel. As he steered into the kerb, the whole car was lifted up and away in the opposite direction. Yet he still moved forward.

The tyre looked like a rubber band all buckled and flexed as the driver still pushed hard to get the car over the kerb. Eventually, after he'd scored the entire circumference of the rim, and made a score mark along the kerb, the car mounted the pavement, and he managed to drive around the car in front into the "new" outside lane.

By this time the queue of traffic ahead had started moving. If the driver had waited 10 seconds, he could have moved into the outside lane without destroying his offside front wheel

The funniest bit was, he got stuck at the traffic lights immediately after the manoeuvre

I do often wonder why drives do such stupid things for no apparent gain....

Company car I guess. Although I even would not do that to a rental.

Some folk don't put any value on their car, Its nothing more than just transport to them!
They are the same people who dish out door dings.

Had a private plate so think the guy owned it. Such a waste :headbang:

The same people give them a whacking from cold etc etc - Then the main dealer tarts them up and gives them the "Approved used car" status!

Makes you wonder where their mind is when they can't work out that 10 seconds will sort things out. . . either a very poor driver or not a very nice person?

:driving:
