I bought a runaround...

Nice! top spec too with the power pack!
You're right you won't loose much that in resale, did you manage to get one with extended warranty?

The scary mileage is the only downside, but like you said it just ticks too many of the bucket items to ignore, still wouldn't class it as a runaround though :poke:

I don't do enough miles in a year for the mpg to be a huge problem really, i worked out the net cost was a few hundred quid vs a more efficient car, but those more efficient (newer, turbo based) cars cost so much more in depreciation my man maths told me i was SAVING money by having a 6.2l V8.

It still has manufacturer warranty til this year, has been serviced every year on the dot too (in fact this year serviced early due to my purchase). I'll speak to Merc about extending it if they'll do it, though i read the engines are pretty solid.

Have you notified your neighbours?

Hah spot on - it's loud. Have to say it's one of the best sounding engines i've driven, a total pleasure to start it up and hear it sing at full chat. A bit like the S54 at full beans i guess, addictive.

In full drug-dealer glory - here's a pic:

Has had a full machine polish detail, wheel refurb, etcetc.

Had a bit of a busy week so been very restricted on time with it - as yet to get out and get some snaps on a proper drive :)

Bit of a mundane question, but does the saloon have folding rear seats?

Indeed it does, two release handles in the boot pop them down, the boot is a decent size. In the end i went for the saloon over the coupe mainly for practicality reasons - be nice to not have to ask people to climb over seats anymore. Legroom is pretty decent too.

It would be an interesting steer with a manual (read: mental), but actually i like the auto. For my usage, it makes much more sense (town/a-road/long distance driving), and makes a nice change.

I have the Zed for manual back road blasts where i want an involved drive - the z4m is so much more of a drivers car than the rest of the M/AMG/RS range, having tested pretty much everything on offer going back to the z4m you realise how raw and driver-y it is, the modern stuff is 100% more disconnected in feel when directly compared.

The AMG is more of a boat that steers very well (actually very impressed with the steering) with a ridiculous engine and associated sound track. If you're doing comfortable driving, the MCT is great, if you're going all out - it works pretty well (7-8/10), it's the bit in the middle where it falls down. The ZF8 or similar in the AMG would of made it a class leader i suspect.

Is this you, Jimmy?

Wow jimmybell, that is some fleet you have there!

Z4MC and a C63 - great choices!

I really should have worked harder (and longer), but I kind of like being retired! :D
