I am locked out of trunk

Sorry for the duplicate post. I had this posted in the wrong section.
I had several bags in my trunk and when taking them out is it possible I hit a switch or something? I get the singnal that my top is not closed all the way and neither my key fob or the button on the door well will open the trunk.
The roof was never opened, I merely took the things out of the trunk and after closing it got in the car and got this signal. Now the windows are down and I can't close them because the car thinks I have the roof open. And I can't get into the trunk as it will not allow me to open it.
How do I bypass this so I can open the trunk and close the windows?
The car is a 2009 Z-4

What model car have you got, e85 or e89?

Interesting one !! I would've suggested to disconnect the battery and leave it for half an hour or so (to reset itself) but again you cannot get to the boot !!

Hopefully someone will come along with a simple answer but for roof problems in the e89, usually the microswitches are the culprits !!

PS: I know it might not be the perfect moment for you, but we do expect an intro in the newbies section and we do love photos :)

Edited as irrelevant now.

probably one of the sensors playing up, I'd go straight to the dealer and get them to read it and reset it/re-align it.

afaik e89 has 8? 4 microswitches and 4 sensors?

I bet one of those is giving false info and the boot is by default locked.

Just a thought... May be it's possible to reset the codes so it knows what's what. :|

How would you reset the codes ?!!!

Take the car to an indie or dealership garage or someone who's knowledgeable and has the necessary computer set up to clear the fault/reset the codes.
I'm not saying this is the fix for your problem. It may work though. Try ringing a dealership / garage in advance to avoid wasting time. It may be a case of them trying not succeeding and it still costing you money.
