I know this won't come as much of a surprise to many on here but I am such a muppet.....
I got a RFL reminder through the post today for the wife's daily Mazda3 (£30 woohoo!). That spurred me to check the MOT date. The car was bought last March and because I have bought so many cars in the past couple of years, I presumed it had an MOT until March (as all the other cars had a new MOT when purchased). I couldn't find the current MOT cert in the car's paperwork so did an online check.....

MOT expired on 22nd November 2022! :o :headbang:

I've either got early onset dementia, or am just friggin' useless. Booked it in for next Tuesday (earliest I could get) and they will change the oil and brake fluid while there. I also ordered air and pollen filters from Autoforevertodeliver aswell.

I'm sure the Gov used to send out reminders of MOTs. They certainly don't anymore!

Don't be oo hard on yourself mate, we all called you Kermit long before this. :poke:

Now go tell the wife she's also been driving uninsured. :fuelfire:

P.s. take before and after pics of yourself please.

Not in the 30 years I've been driving! And, if you remembered to think about it, you then had to find the old one. The online thing is a bit of a blessing, I find.

Funnily enough, the other day I came across an old MOT from when it was a proper certificate complete with embossed garage stamp. It's forgotten that was how they used to be!

I told her it was her responsibility to check as it is her car!
Reverse psychology, I call it. Works a treat every time.

Only if you sign up to the text reminder service

As soon as I saw the title all I thought was “yes, you are” :D

You can sign up for an MOT reminder on gov.uk
You get a reminder by either an email or text, whichever you choose, one month before it expires.
I’ve done it on all my cars👍

Unfortunately there is a limit, think 4 cars.

Pondy is just a bit ahead of the future when the MOT is only every two years

Imagine my surprise at some of the responses! :headbang: :poke:

The irony is that my daughter turns 17 on Tuesday, so if she wanted to go for her first lesson on Tuesday morning she can't as the car is not legal until later that day. :o

I put the current 'faux pas' down to not having to deal with such menial tasks as MOTs for the past 30 odd years, as never had a car over 3 years old until recently. :poke:

Do we dare ask about the E89 then?
What about it? That is MOTed (just got that one done in time in Jan). The 440 is going tomorrow so don't give a toss about that.

Well, you said you had not dealt with MOTs for 30 years so I assumed that the E89 was without one for the last 5 years or so

FFS 'Paul The Pedant'.
OK just for you I will revise that to "I haven't had to deal with such menial tasks as MOTs for the last 30 odd years; except for the E89 which I have had to get MOTed for the past two!"
I do apologise! :poke: :D
