Haven't posted for a while but took my car today for its inspection 2 service! It's November 2007 with 50,000 miles on it. Took it to the official bmw garage to keep my full bmw service history. Knew it would be more but not expecting 370! But that's beside the point. Before taking it ini knew of a few problems which I will detail but bmw also noted these problems and quoted me £3200 I fix them all! Ridiculous! I just want to know if you think my price to get it fixed is reasonable and get some advice on repair parts.
1. Abs, dsc and handbrake lights are on! Bmw confirmed it was the hydro pump they called it, I think that is the abs or dsc module mentioned on here that has had problems. They quoted my 1600 quid girl a new one but I think people mentioned on here it can be removed and sent to a couple of places in England for repair for 200 quid? Is this correct and then can someone point me to a centre that foes the repair? Is it hard to take out? 100 quid to take out does that sound reasonable?
2. Oil leak! Heard the rocket cover seal can go on these cars but bmw say the vacuum pump seal can go. Anyone know if this sounds possible? And how much it would be to fix? Any one had this problem?
3. Control arm front bushes. I just changed to 18inch alloys and came with run flats on the front so I thought the strange feeling was cause of that. But how much do bushes cost and could I do them myself?
I think I could maybe get all this fixed for 600 quid rather than the 3200 bmw quoted.
Let me know what your opinion is.
