I used a dremel to clean out the burrs that hold the needle bearings in and then when they were out cleaned hole out with a 15mm hand reamerRobson said:Thank you very much. Regards.
no probs ...give me a couple of days to sort something outHydro_Z4 said:That would be great if it's not too much trouble.
Here is some pictures of the steering column yoke that holds the uj , I pushed the bearings inwards once the joint was cut out , then used a 15mm reamer or you could carefully use a dremel to clean of the metal tabs ( call stakes ) to allow the new bearing to be fitted from the outside.Hydro_Z4 said:That would be great if it's not too much trouble.
I used a hard centre punch to re pin the yokes to stop the cup needle bearings from movingGriffendahl said:How did you secure the cross in the yokes once you had dremelled out the old retaining things and put everything back together?

Mine is back on the road , the steering is great at speed but it feels quite heavy when parking or maneuvering slowly , I would say it feels heavier than with the sport button on.
I have the higher pressure LF30 pump and have ordered the hose to match it to see how much lighter it makes it.
I am thinking that my purple tag rack maybe valved for the higher pressure pump as they were fitted on some of the E46's as the LF20 can be unreliable.
Having said this, as it is now there is no wandering at 60-80mph and no tramlining so if the LF30 makes it too light I will go back to plan A .
Either way its a vast improvement![]()
