Hydraulic Steering Conversion Kit

I believe this is everything you need to convert your M54 Z4 to hydraulic steering like the Z4M. Wanted to do this conversion myself but I don't have the free time I used to.

Here's a fantastic write up of how it all comes together. I've heard Zed Shed near Liverpool can fit it for you if you're not mechanically minded:
https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=150640&p=2115920#p2115920

Included:
Z4M intermediate shaft
Z4M steering column
Z4M cooling pipe
Steering fluid reservoir
LF-20 steering fluid pump
Purple tag steering rack
Meyle serpentine belt
Radiator support bracket
Pipes to and from each component
Mounting bolts (you might need a couple more, but I'm not 100% sure)

Some of these parts are M54 specific, however if you have an N52 engine, this package will get you 80% there. Looking for £650 for the lot. Would like to keep it together for now, but will consider selling parts individually if I don't get much interest.

Any questions just ask. Collection only from NW London.

You say 80% there for an N52 Hydraulic conversion
What's missing?
Thanks

So for the N52 you would need three things; a slightly different power steering pump, different lines going from the pump to the steering rack and an additional mounting bracket for the fluid resovoir.

- LF30 power steering pump (32416769887)
- High-pressure line from pump to rack (32416764725)
- Additional mounting bracket for fluid resovoir (32416768096)

These don't seem particularly difficult to source as they are used on other BMWs. The expensive/rare parts are the z4m specific parts like the steering column, intermediate shaft and cooling pipe.

Thanks. I would like to express an interest .
However I have some other issues going on with my Z at the moment I will hopefully have some answers on Friday when it goes on the ramp.

Until I know what expense might be involved I'll need to hold out.

Hey mate, not sure if you've has any more thoughts on this before I spilt it apart and sell parts individually

I don’t think it’s priced badly, I just think it’s a pretty specialist mod, and most will need someone to do it for them, increasing the cost.

Sorry to not be more helpful, but might be something you have to sit on for a while.

I think that sums it up pretty well.

Having had two Z4s with EPAS and currently one with HPAS, if I had another with EPAS I'd definitely be all over this!

But it is just a question of finding the right person at the right time. GLWTS anyway.

I'm just glad my E90 330i is an early one with an N52 and HPAS. :)

If it helps persuade a buyer for you, I'd be happy to help on an install should anyone want it.

Also I bought my kit for £700 early 2024 (and everything is only going up) which I was more than happy with. It's what people think it's worth and even after I've had to make changes to make it fit (the kit was for an N52 where I have an M54), I'm looking at around £850-900 and I'd still consider that worth it for the improvements

Good luck with your sale
