Hydraulic Lifter 'tapping'

just bringing up an old topic here! cars has started tapping from the listers and im wondering how easy it is to replace them seens as though you can pick up 6 new lifters from Eurocar parts at the moment for £50!

for what its worth I poured in a bottle of this stuff http://answers.halfords.com/answers/4028/product/268607/questions.htm into a mercedes A class I had bought for the girlfriend was making a racket then when warmed up goes silent. It is silent now ... i think when i do the oil change I am going to pick oil that is thinner when cold.
Not sure what side affects are though pouring that stuff in.... I got the a class for a steal so wasn't too bothered.

seems like an interesting product, only had the oil change about 3 weeks ago though

What do you mean Nova? This thread was for the N52 engine not the M54.

I know mines the m54 but it's tapping more than usual the last month or so, it increases with the revs and seems to be coming from underneath. If you listen from the engine bay you can't notice it but from the side of the car it's very noticeable!
