Hydraulic floor standing Spring compressor Sealey or Clarke?

I’m thinking about buying a floor standing spring hydraulic spring compressor and wondered if anyone had experience of them with E85 MSport shocks and springs?

I’m looking at a Sealey one and a Clarke one as there’s one of each available locally and I’m tempted.

No but I am planning to get one, so watching this thread

Struggling to find decent information about how well they work (if they work) with the infamous MSport springs

A mechanic friend of mine did a Z4 once and said they really struggled with the hydraulic kit they had.

Since proper kit always seem expensive for the occasional job I built one out of bits and bobs about 8 years ago and it's still going strong. If I had a bottle jack instead of the trolley jack it would be perfect. It works well on the very short Z4 springs.

Yes I don't really understand that one tbh.
Having done many sets now using a decent trio of compressors, I have always found the Sport springs easier as they are shorter?

I love this ingenuity. This really reminds me so much of my uncle (the legend), prior to his stroke, he used to fix our families cars for all us nephews and nieces, always making sure we were driving in mechanically safe cars. and he was a genius at constructing instruments and gadgets as such to aid him in his mechanical jobs. Whenever I hear the saying 'work smart not hard' it always reminds me of him and his gadgets. I think it was his own way of keeping us all close to him, and I miss those times.
Keep up the good work

Which three do you use? If you don’t mind me asking?
And why are you thinking about a floor standing one if you have a way that works?

I cannot remember the make tbh. Had them since the mid-90s doing Capri struts.
Single deep hook on each end and the retaining clip to stop them popping off the spring.

Took my old Struts apart using a pair of bog standard SIP wind up compressors, no effort and if 180 apart then totally safe.
Put the B12 kit together by assembling, put the bottom of the shock on the ground, pressing down the top mount by hand and the best bit was getting Mrs W to run the top nut down to the start of the nyloc so she can tell everyone that WE fixed the car.
I did look at buying one a few years back for doing some Coil Overs though and it looks like the ones sold by reputable companies are all made in the same place and rebadged so go by price. Unless you're doing loads then ask around in the Local and someone will do it for a pint.

I bought a Clarke one from machine mart, I had to use a spacer made from a piece of 4" box section to compress the spring enough

I’ve always used the thread wind down rods my Dad my Dad gave me, he was a mechanic for years. Fine for an occasional job.
