Hybrid - yes or no?

Got 330e coming next week to replace the current diesel
Company car so for me its a 22% reduction in BIK tax
I considered full electric but as a few journeys I make are over the range, and felt that infrastructure was not 100% there, I opted for the hybrid.
I'm dreading the lower range on a full tank though
Mercs stacked up well with better range and lower BIK but I just couldn't leave the BMW brand

I have a BMW 545e. I can't comment on the Merc. but if you want comfort you can have it with any manufacturer, if you pay for it. My car is a plug-in and will do 26 miles on a full charge. That doesn't sound a lot but I use it 5 days a week and have not put petrol in it since June. Very comfortable, very quiet, relaxing with a Bower and Wilkins sound system. As I said you get what you pay for. I have absolutely no regrets getting a plug-in hybrid. Oh, I nearly forgot, it also has a 3 litre straight six petrol engine.Stevo1987 said:

The transfer between electricity and petrol is seamless. You don’t feel it at all. Even on petrol alone you get about 40mpg if driven carefully. So far we have covered 1600 miles 1300 of which have been covered on electricity alone. If you are going to make a long journey finishing with some time in a city you can configure the car to save electricity for the last part of your journey. The car car will cover around 32 miles on electricity alone. As far as Mercs go I read recently that the new E series plugin hybrids will cover up to 60 miles on electricity. So they are certainly worth looking at. Good luck with your search. 
My mate has a E350e and I have to be honest I quite like the car as a company car, goes well and very comfortable.
I run an e350 daily and its a fabulous commuting car and great for long distances too , wonderfully smooth and refined its a pleasure to get into every day , it is a little expensive to run though especially with rising fuel prices, i would definitely be thinking about the hybrid version when its time to replace
I'm thinking hybrid as I'm doing lots of short trips at the moment. My wife won't be able to drive again so her car can go. I also have an old Mazda 6 estate, aka student mover, that I'm not using so much so going down to two cars, Zed and one other, seems sensible. I'm not sure how I broach the subject with the missus though.
I ordered the fully electric one and not hybryd because of tax reasons only, but that is my business / personal decision. I have never done a business car purchase so this is the first one - but fully company tax deductable and 1 % BIK makes the savings (personal) to something like 25k over the life of the car.
I am thinking about a 3 year car nothing to do with company transport. I probably won't do that many miles in it. I don't want anything 'sporty'. It needs to soak up the bumps because of my wife's condition. That's if I ever manage to get her into a car again.pvr said:

Only think i dont like, that you always have to charge on arrival if you want to do as much eletric Miles/KM as possible.
Problem is solved when you have a wallcharger (16A) with cable attached to it and you dont have to use a pass or label to charge.
Then its easy to do

Also a + for hybrid is at short distance drives. Fully electric for most of the use in my case, and when needed petrol aviable for long distances.
No issue with all day driving vs eletric which takes more time to fill up.
Only think i dont like, that you always have to charge on arrival if you want to do as much eletric Miles/KM as possible.
