Hybrid TV

Hi,

How many people have the digital TV function working in there Z's and is it worth the investment?

I was thinking of going for the BMW Hybrid Digital plug n play replacement as this seems the most straight forward, does anyone know anywhere that sells them? Am I right in saying they are like trying to find "gold dust"

How sad this is - wanting to watch TV in your car. Just drive it!!!! :headbang:
 
A few have done this, mac27040 replaced his analogue tuner. Check out his thread on including a reversing camera here.

For sourcing a digital tuner, keep an eye on eBay as they do pop up. IIRC you can use some tuners from other BMW models also...I *think* it was the X5??
 
I have updated the module on mine and can say it's really worth it. mac27040 was kind enough to remove the tv in motion restriction so now when i'm crawling in london traffic I'm no longer bored. When I first got my car I would also find it very useful when I arrived early anywhere as I could just watch tv as I waited. But smart phones now mean I don't really do this so much.

In fact for the money if I was competent enough I would do one of these tablet conversions. That is definitley the future. Also I have one of the vodafone non expiring PAYG data sim cards which would be ideal in this type of set up.
